In 2003 The World championships for the International One Metre (IOM) was held in Vancouver at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. After that large and successful event (82 competitors from 16 countries), IOM sailing suffered a severe decline here on the west coast. In the years following this event interest has been slowly building again in radio sailing, but mainly on Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands. So where are all the potential radio sailors in Vancouver and the lower mainland?
|Anders Wallin from Sweden and Lester Gilbert from the UK both filed reports on this event. There are still some photographs on the RVYC website but the original coverage of the event that was on their site seems to be gone. At the end of Anders photo's of the event there is a PDF report of the event by Joyce Roberts and was published in Marine Modeling International.|
